Anyone who’s picked up a science-related book in the last decade knows we need to reduce C02 levels in the atmosphere. And although climate change, deforestation and global warming have been the catalyst for a variety of tree planting initiatives, Bill Gates thinks we should be looking at other alternatives such as carbon engineering.
In fact Bill Gates is one of the major financiers (as well as some gas companies!?! ) into a company based in Squamish, British Columbia called Carbon Engineering who focus on carbon dioxide removal technology. According to their website they focus on two technology methods of carbon reduction.
“Direct Air Capture technology can deliver large-scale negative emissions by removing carbon dioxide directly from the atmosphere; and our AIR TO FUELS™ technology can significantly reduce the carbon footprint of transportation by creating clean synthetic fuels – made from air, water and renewable power.”
Talk about a win-win situation! Removing carbon from the air while creating clean synthetic fuels, no wonder Bill opened up his pockets to support these guys.
